Wednesday Disaster Recovery Community Update Meeting to be held in Lahaina Civic Center social hall

Residents are encouraged to attend the County of Maui’s Weekly Disaster Recovery Community Update Meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Lahaina Civic Center social hall.

The meeting will include a status report on debris clearing by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and a presentation by Federal Emergency Management Agency representatives on their plans to place modular homes on property sites within the impacted area. State Insurance Commissioner Gordon Ito will offer information on his office’s efforts. Nonprofit United Policy Holders will share information on the organization’s Roadmap to Recovery program that offers guidance tools and resources to help with nativating through insurance claims. The Maui Humane Society will give an update on its Lahaina Resource Center and Mobile Wellness Clinic.

The meeting will be livestreamed on the County of Maui’s Facebook page; no account is needed to view. Akakū: Maui Community Media will show a live broadcast of the meeting on Channel 53.
